NDIS support
Community
Social activities, groups, and getting out into the wider community.
What this category covers
Community supports help participants take part in social, recreational and community-based activities. This might be group programs, one-on-one mentoring, attending events, or building skills like catching public transport independently.
These supports are about participation, not just attendance. A good Community provider builds confidence and skills over time.
Plan management
Funded under Core Supports - Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation. Most plans can use either registered or unregistered providers.
Typical services
- Group programs (art, sport, gaming, music)
- One-on-one community access
- Skill-building (public transport, money handling)
- Holiday programs and short-term activities

Frequently asked
▸Can family attend the activity?
Some programs welcome family; others are participant-only. Ask the provider directly.
▸How is "participation" different from "attendance"?
NDIS funding is for active inclusion, not just being present. Providers should plan goals with you and report progress.
